Supersonic Passenger Jets

Welcome to my supersonic passenger jet page. Here you will find my favorite resources relating to civilian supersonic travel.

The NASA High-Speed Research Center has been looking into passenger jets that can fly 300 passengers at twice the speed of sound. It was called the High-Speed Civil Transport (HSCT). Check it out at oea.larc.nasa.gov

Environmental Impact

The effects on the environment have been carefully studied. Among the concerns are ozone destruction in the atmosphere, minimizing jet noise, sonic booms, high-altitude radiation, and future environmental research.

To learn more about these specific issues visit the environmental effects research page at oea.larc.nasa.gov

Concorde

The Concorde was the only supersonic transport to ever see regular international service. The last flight was November 26, 2003.

Tupolev Tu-144

The Tupolev was the only other supersonic transport design to be built in quantity.
